Improvement objectives

At its last Suppliers’ Convention, Messier-Bugatti-Dowty sent out the message for an overall improvement in performance: “Set the bar higher”.

Because of the challenges facing our sector, in the future we will have to significantly expand our vision of supplier performance. Working together, we have to “Go even further”, meaning:

- manage growth
- integrate innovation
- control the impact of dollar exchange rates
- rise to the challenge of materials and energy prices
- plan ahead for globalization
- accelerate the development of Supply Chain Excellence.

You will be quoted A, B, C or D according to your performances in each of the following 5 domains:

Quality System

- A = AS/JISQ/EN9100 certification or quality system assessment (ASD-EASE rating) >85%
- B = 70% < quality assessment (ASD-EASE rating) < 85%
- C = 60% < quality assessement (ASD-EASE rating) < 70% or ISO 9001 certification
- D = No certification or approval

Product Quality

- A = R1 <= 5,000 ppm
- B = 15,000 ppm < R1 > 5,000 ppm
- C = 30,000 ppm < R1 > 15,000 ppm
- D = R > 30,000 ppm

On-time Delivery

- A = % on-time delivery > = 90%
- B = 85% < % on-time delivery < 90%
- C = 80% < % on-time delivery < 75%
- D = % on-time delivery < 75%

Starting in 2009, the delivery "window" is [-7; 0], or 7 days early and zero days late. Partial deliveries of the order do not count.

Commercial Performance

The rating criteria are:

- position in relation to the market
- responsiveness and flexibility
- availability in relation to buyer.

Development Quality

The rating criteria are:

- compliance with Messier-Bugatti requirements
- on-time delivery
- project management
- quality of deliverables
- transparency
- partnership
- teamwork.


For Messier-Bugatti, excellence means a grade of “A” in all areas.
