The European regulation REACH EC 1907/2006 – Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and Restriction of Chemicals – took effect on June 1, 2007.

REACH aims to improve health and environmental protection, while maintaining the competitiveness and enhancing the innovative capabilities of the EU chemicals industry.

The aerospace sector shares these goals and is dedicated to ensuring the successful application of REACH.

Faced with these new regulatory requirements, the expectations and obligations of the different stakeholders in the supply chain accentuate the requirement for enhanced traceability of substances and more efficient presentation of information.

Messier-Bugatti is taking a multifaceted approach to meet these requirements:

- Setting up a dedicated organization, within the scope of broader organizations at Safran Group level, and through aviation authorities.
- Basing actions on the REACh Interpretation guidelines, jointly published by European industry leaders, including Safran, and major trade associations.
- Applying international aerospace standards (ASD-STAN and SAE Aerospace Standards)*, such as the Declarable Substances List and the Material Declaration Form.
- Using a Safran group-wide database, in conjunction with the Quick FDS online platform, to manage the Material Safety Data Sheets for ingredients and preparations.

Messier-Bugatti’s requirements are available in:

- Wheels, brakes and equipments activity : document SQA 89-200-00 (available in DK6000) concerning the procurement quality specifications covered by REACH.
- Landing gears activity: connect to the dedicated site .
